Intergenerational women performing genre-defying music

Mirabilis Collective

Based on Whadjuk Boodja, Western Australia, Mirabilis Collective is a dynamic arts organisation dedicated to showcasing the works of women musicians, composers and songwriters through chamber music. Our repertoire spans a range of genres, from classical and contemporary to world music, all through a distinctly female-driven approach.

At the heart of our collective is an ensemble of accomplished women artists from multiple generations, who deliver a unique blend of instruments and vocals. We present eclectic repertoire and engaging storytelling, establishing a sense of community and joyous celebration.

Mirabilis Collective is more than a performing ensemble — it's a space for skill-sharing and collaboration, underlining our commitment to promoting diversity in the arts. We are dedicated to providing opportunities and visibility for female musicians from different life stages, aiding in the development of their artistic journeys and professional growth.

We invite you to join us in our exploration of the rich and varied music created and performed by women.

Our highlight reel features Umoja by Valerie Coleman, Yinyarr Mulana Winyarr by First Nations Yorta Yorta woman Madi Colville-Walker, Constant Craving by k.d. lang, “Elegy” from Renaesence by West Australian composer Carmel Dean , “Spring Tide” from Coastal Kaleidoscope by Alyssa Morris and Hold the Girl by Rina Sawayama.

Commissioned Works

Mirabilis Collective is dedicated to nurturing the future of music by commissioning new works from Australian women composers. We believe in empowering and supporting these talented artists, providing them with opportunities to showcase their craft and share their unique voices.

By investing in their creativity, we contribute to a diverse and flourishing musical landscape. Through these commissions, Mirabilis Collective encourages innovation and artistic growth, strengthening the connections between composers, performers, and audiences, and celebrating the wealth of talent within Australia's creative community.

I loved the diversity of music that was showcased in the concert —you not only celebrated the music of European and American women, but also included compositions from Brazil, and an Australian Indigenous composer.

    I absolutely love your vision!

It's so important for girls and young women to have women musicians (performers, arrangers, composers) as role models.
