Clara Schumann: Notes from an Extraordinary Life
Presented by Mirabilis Collective in collaboration with Tenth Muse Initiative
This intimate concert reimagines the life and legacy of Clara Schumann — composer, virtuoso, muse, and mother.
What if Clara Schumann could speak to us now?
In this bold reimagining, her voice is brought into the present day — vivid, personal, and emotionally raw. Her story unfolds through expressive chamber works and songs that echo a life shaped by creativity, love, resilience, and sacrifice.
The program includes:
• the lyrical Romanza from her Piano Concerto
• Sechs Lieder Op. 13
• movements from her Piano Trio and Romances Op. 22
• characterful miniatures from her Four Characteristic Pieces
Performed by an ensemble of acclaimed WA musicians:
Ellie Malonzo – violin
Lucinda Nicholls – soprano
Bridget Hutchinson – piano
Stephanie Nicholls – oboe
Julia Nicholls – violin
Jessica Casey – viola
Elena Wittkuhn – cello
This 60-minute concert offers a rare opportunity to hear Clara Schumann’s voice and music brought into the present day — a compelling portrait of a woman navigating art, love, and identity through expressive music and moving storytelling.
