Hear Her Now Festival
8–19 October 2026 | Western Australia
Hear Her Now is a chamber music festival dedicated to music written by women.
Presented by Mirabilis Collective across 12 days in Perth, the festival spans early music to new Australian commissions, sacred music to contemporary song, art song through the ages to a dedicated concert celebrating LGBTQI+ composers and songwriters. It features a standalone concert of music by women from the AMEB syllabus, pop-up performances by UWA Conservatorium students and community musicians, and an opening concert devoted entirely to West Australian women composers — including world premieres of newly commissioned works by Katherine Potter, Mia Brine, Rose Russell and Julia Nicholls.
The festival is built around four pillars:
Performance — flagship concerts featuring commissioned works, professional recordings and the full breadth of women's chamber music across centuries and genres.
Community participation — Open Stage, a program in which community musicians rehearse and perform alongside Mirabilis Collective musicians, contributing their performance as one of the festival's 100 works.
Mentorship — emerging musicians from the UWA Conservatorium of Music working directly alongside professional women musicians across the festival program.
Education — workshops, school partnerships and public events connecting young people with women composers' music and stories.
