About Us
At the heart of Mirabilis Collective are its co-founders, Stephanie Nicholls and Tresna Stampalia, whose friendship and creative collaboration date back to their university days. Over the years, their shared journey through orchestras, chamber music ensembles, and Australian touring musical theatre productions led them to the same conclusion—that the music of women had been quietly, persistently left out of the repertoire.
Mirabilis Collective was born from a determination to change that—creating a space where women musicians could collaborate, perform, and champion one another's work. The ensemble brings together established and emerging artists, each contributing unique strengths and perspectives to a vibrant, evolving musical community.
We are building something that lasts: a repertoire, a community, and a generation of musicians who grow up knowing women's music as essential, not exceptional.
We perform. We commission. We mentor emerging musicians and composers. We bring chamber music into schools, regional communities and public spaces.
Through our flagship project, Hear Her Now—Australia's first chamber music festival dedicated entirely to works by women—we are building a significant platform for women's music. And through our education and mentorship programs, we are ensuring that the next generation of WA musicians hear music by women composers.
This is how we make change—through sustained, evidence-informed programs that shift what people know, hear and expect from music.
Join us at Mirabilis Collective as we connect, create, and inspire. Experience the power of women collaborating in music.
