Annie Aitken

Annie Aitken is a critically acclaimed performer whose work spans leading stages across Australia and the UK. She most recently starred as Sarah Brown in Guys & Dolls opposite Cody Simpson for the iconic Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, and as Cunégonde in Opera Australia’s Candide at the Sydney Opera House, a role she previously performed with State Opera South Australia, State Theatre South Australia, and originally with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs alongside Caroline O’Connor.

Annie’s portrayal of Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie (The Production Company) solidified her as one of Australia’s leading ladies.

UK credits include: Hedy LaRue in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Southwark Playhouse) and Madame in Cinderella (Hope Mill Theatre). Annie was hand-picked by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Alexander Dinelaris and composer Frank Wildhorn to be the new Lucy Harris in the London premiere development of Jekyll and Hyde (Lambert Jackson), later performing the role in Frank and Friends at Cadogan Hall.

Australian stage credits include: Nellie Melba in Melba opposite Australian soprano Emma Matthews (Hayes Theatre Co, Sydney Theatre Award nomination), Muriel’s Wedding (Sydney Theatre Company, Global Creatures), Evangeline Barley in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Oklahoma! (The Production Company), The Sound of Music (Gordon Frost Organisation), Anything Goes (Opera Australia / Gordon Frost Organisation), Sweet Charity (Luckiest / Tinderbox), Sarah in Rolling Thunder Vietnam (Blake Entertainment), and Paulette in Legally Blonde (HAMA).

Annie is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (Music Theatre), recipient of the 2018 Rob Guest Endowment Award, and proud mum of twins Alfie and Teddy.
