Joonwoo Kim is a composer with a love for a good cheeky laugh—especially the kind that arises from the irony of the serious and strange. They enjoy working with playful contrasts, dry humour, and unexpected textures, weaving these elements into their musical scores.

Currently studying at the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Western Australia, Joonwoo recently collaborated with the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Youth Orchestra, with works of various styles performed across different ensemble settings. Whether writing for a large orchestral group or teaming up with performers in a chamber context, their music invites listeners to engage and reflect—or simply enjoy the ride.
