Joscelyn Leahy
Joscelyn Leahy has been learning classical guitar since age 5 and is now a third-year Bachelor of Music student at UWA. In 2024, Joscelyn performed in multiple events through UWA, including the Accelerate! Guitars concert, the Guitar and Strings Co-Lab, The International Classical Guitar Festival, as well as participating in UWA’s symphonic chorus alongside WA Opera in Mahler’s eighth symphony.
Joscelyn has participated in masterclasses with virtuosos from all over the world, including Chrystian Dozza (Brazil), Johannes Möller (Sweden), Gian Marco Ciampa (Italy), Paul Svoboda, and Stephanie Jones (Australia).
Joscelyn is a three-time participant in the Adelaide Guitar Festival Winter School (2017, 2018, 2019) and placed 1st in the WA Guitar Society Guitar competition (2020) and the Fremantle Eisteddfod (2021). In 2023, Joscelyn held her first solo recital, performing works by Giulio Regondi, Gilbert Biberian, Duncan Gardiner and Nigel Westlake’s Songs From the Forest duo with fellow UWA guitarist Dylan To.
Outside of her studies, Joscelyn teaches guitar at Carey Baptist College and is one half of Emra Duo, playing alongside fellow UWA guitarist Emily Hobday. She plays a 2007 cedar-top guitar made by esteemed West-Australian luthier Simon Rovis-Hermann.
