Anneke van der Laan

Anneke van der Laan is currently completing her Honours year at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts on the cello, having been awarded the prestigious Royal Overseas League entrance prize. Anneke is an active member of various ensembles, including Varley Strings and Bellaluce, a collaborative ensemble for soprano and cello. She also showcases her versatility by performing on electric cello, championing contemporary music.

Chamber music holds significant importance for Anneke, and she is a member of the AAA trio, winners of the ROSL chamber music prize in 2020. In 2023, Anneke had the privilege to perform with the renowned Kronos Quartet at the Perth Festival, where she received mentorship from the Quartet's founder and leader, David Harrington.

Additionally, Anneke enjoys orchestral playing and has performed with numerous orchestras including the Vienna Pops and Perth Symphony Orchestras. A recent highlight of her career was participating in the Cygnus Arioso String Orchestra Summer Project at WA Museum Boola Bardip.
